Since the weekend was so much work for me and SM2XJP, I decided to take it easy on Monday. So I started building a little house at the new cable entrance at the barn which I think turned out really good. I will need to buy some more material for grounding and I need to make some parts so I can attach it nice to the coaxes. I also added gas discharge tubes (GDT) to the control wires and got us QRV on three bands, since SM2LIY came here and not having the possibility to be QRV would be quite tough on him 😉

SM2LIY did burn the old paneling from the house while I worked on the cable entrance.

Now when the grounding is improved I am comfortable to leave all antenna switches etc connected during thunderstorms. However, I can disconnect all the coaxial cables leading to the house, so that only the control cables is what is connecting the barn to the house, and all those are very well protected with both GDTs and Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs).

SE2T also arrived to day and helped us at the QTH, mainly painting.

I haven’t updated the posts here for a while, been a lot to do. But now I am gonna make several posts which describes what has happened lately. I did some work on the base bearing for the military tower (40m high). It turned a bit slowly so I took it apart and you can see on the pictures that it needed some cleaning. After a few litres of gasoline I had the bearings cleaned and now its almost ready for assembly again. However, I will not put it back together before I’ve done the I-beams etc which will be on top of it, since I can handle it by myself now when its in pieces.

I also built a little work table which is very sturdy and will be used to build the parts for the bearing.

Weather has been awful this summer but yesterday I managed to get some more work done on the house and hopefully next week it will not be so much rain so I can start getting some of the panel up on the house.

I spent another day cleaning out the garage part of the barn, so now that is clean and I can continue with the next room. I will also check another building I have on my land which is an old haybarn if the roof is OK I will store lots of stuff in there as well.

SM2VHD visited SJ2W for the first time which was very pleasant and hopefully we’ll see more of Nicke here in the future.

På grund av tekniska problem kunde inte Kurt, SE2T hålla sin del av presentationen på årsmötet när vi pratade om SJ2W. Kurt tänkte prata lite om taktik vid contesting, varför SJ2W är utformat som det är osv. Jag tycker det var synd att det inte blev någon presentation för det är bra material och helt klart värt att läsa.
